Aberystwyth, tref brifysgol ar lan y môr, yw lleoliad diwrnod cyntaf yr Ŵyl. Ysbrydolir y tymor gan gasgliadau Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru ac fe fydd arddangosfa fel rhan o'r dathliad. Cyflwynir yr Ŵyl gan y Cyfarwyddydd Artistig, Dr Rhian Davies, ac fe fydd perfformiadau arbennig o gerddoriaeth gynnar gan Paul Dooley, telyn, a Thomas Dunford, liwt, yn Ystafell y Cyngor.
The University and seaside town of Aberystwyth provides the location for our opening day. The National Library of Wales' collections have inspired this year's curation and items will be on special display. The Artistic Director introduces the Festival and its theme of Pageantry, and our concerts reflect the early 20th-century early music revival, with performances in the intimate Council Chamber, overlooking Cardigan Bay, by harpist Paul Dooley and lutenist Thomas Dunford.

Pasiant hanesyddol a ffantasi
Gan ddechrau gyda’r cerddor enigmatig Robert ap Huw (c. 1580-1665), bydd yr arddangosfa fechan hon yn canolbwyntio ar dri artist o ddechrau’r ugeinfed ganrif fu’n ail-ddarganfod ac ail-ddychmygu’r gorffennol: Arnold Dolmetsch (1858-1940) a’i Early Welsh Music Society; Thomas Evelyn Scott-Ellis (8fed Barwn Howard de Walden, 1880-1946) a’i nawdd i’r celfyddydau o Gastell y Waun; ac Alvin Langdon Coburn (1882-1966), y ffotograffydd a’r derwydd o Harlech.
Historical pageantry and fantasy
Beginning with enigmatic musician Robert ap Huw (c. 1580-1665), this small exhibition showcases three artists of the early twentieth century who re-discovered and re-imagined a past: Arnold Dolmetsch (1858-1940) and his Early Welsh Music Society; Thomas Evelyn Scott-Ellis (8th Baron Howard de Walden, 1880-1946) and his patronage of the arts at Chirk; and Alvin Langdon Coburn (1882-1966), photographer and druid of Harlech.
