The Patronage of Lord Howard de Walden

Our second weekend takes place at the National Trust's Chirk Castle, with performances in the historic Chapel which seats just 70. The star-studded weekend features Australian saxophonist Amy Dickson, pianist Llyr Williams and clarinettist Robert Plane with the Gould Piano Trio, together with talks about the patronage of T. E. Scott-Ellis, 8th Baron Howard de Walden. Experience the Castle's artistic life at the start of the twentieth century.

Castell y Waun yw'r unig un o gaerau'r gororau Edward I y mae pobl yn dal i fyw ynddo hyd heddiw.  Mae'r Castell a'i erddi nodedig yn rhan o barcdir eang Ystad y Waun, sy'n ardal gadwraethol, dan ofal yr Ymddiriolaeth Genedlaethol. Mwy


Chirk Castle is the only one of Edward I's Marcher Castles which is still lived in to this day. The Castle and its important gardens and parkland are now under the care of the National Trust. Nearby is the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct World Heritage site and Llangollen. More
